Welcome to my first column for the FCW website. In this column - 'The Whole Truth' I will cast my eye over events happening in FCW, hopefully on a monthly basis.
For this first column I want to talk about respect.
You know what, it p*sses me off no end that Future Championship Wrestling doesn't get nearly the amount of coverage that it deserves on the internet.
Let's state a few facts -
Every month I along with numerous other hardcore FCW fans make the pilgrimage to The Baggeridge Social Welfare Centre in Lower Gornal, and bear witness to great show after great show. Not to mention that each and every month the place is full (or very nearly) with nearly 200 fans in attendance. Every show is built from month to month, with the fans all knowing the stories behind the matches. How many other UK promotions can say that?
Then twice a year they do a show at the much larger Haden Hill Leisure Centre in Halesowen, and can have between 220 and 420 fans there. The set up at that place is as good as most Brit shows with entranceway, lighting, barricades etc, yet you'll never hear a word about it on the internet forums.
FCW only ever charge a maximum of £8 per ticket, now I'm sure that keeping the prices down hampers their profit margins but as a paying customer I appreciate the value for money that I am getting.
There have been a load of US 'imports' on the shows that the 'net' fans can appreciate. Remember all of these stars have appeared without the need for the ticket prices to be bumped up!
ROH Star - 'Classic' Colt Cabana
ROH Star - Chad Collyer
ROH/TNA Star - Fallen Angel' Christopher Daniels
TNA Star - Chris Sabin
ROH/CZW Star - Chris Hero
CZW - Mike Quackenbush
Former WWE Star - Joe E Legend
PWG/CZW Star - Super Dragon
Former WWE Star - D'Lo Brown
Future Championship Wrestling also runs its own training school, (details can be found elsewhere on the site) which has produced a lot of quality workers in it's time. People like Moralez, A-Star Athlete, Laken Xander, Saul Adams, Jack Xavier, Brandon Thomas, Pippa L'Vinn and Shelby Beach all started out at the school. All of whom have had the opportunities outside of FCW to do very well for themselves on the UK scene.
In many peoples eyes FCW was basically given life when several workers from fellow Midlands promotion K-Star jumped ship. Former K-Star workers included - Spud, Marc Hogan, Jack Storm, Dragon Phoenix, GBH, BB Steele and Rob Hunter. Future Championship Wrestling jump started their careers, and they have all done well for themselves on the UK scene.
Add to that other quality 'outsiders' such as Jonny Storm, UK Pitbulls, Doug Williams, Ricky Knight, Robbie Brookside, Jorge Castano, Sweet Saraya and Majik
Living in Cradley Heath myself, I see FCW in the local papers all the time, but I'd love to see people appreciating FCW a little more on a wider geographical stage. Publicity in magazines like Powerslam and the newly released Fighting Spirit would help no end.
Anyway, that's my little rant over. More next month.
